Lastly, I think the one consistent feedback I have read and heard is how service stinks. We were there for a late lunch which means there were very few customers to cater to. The place had tons of waiters ready to accommodate your requests… but for some reason, our orders, request for water or more tea, or kubiertos – were either ignored or forgotten.

Anything that involves pastry intimidates me, but this recipe looked so tasty, I (temporarily) forgot my fears, and added it to my list for May’s Project Tiffany jewelry Blog Cook-Off. I started with the pastry dough. I’ve made enough of it now that I don’t panic, but the process is still a source of anxiety. Will the butter cut in? Will I have enough ice water? Will I make a gluey mess? Luckily, the dough turned out fine, and I didn’t have any problems.

While plant breeding has done its part, and irrigation a lion’s share, in bringing global crop productivity up over this last century, synthetic and mineral fertilizers sealed the deal.Plants need more than nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (N-P-K), but an abundance of those three key, limiting nutrients will get them growing well, usually even if there are micronutrient deficiencies. So the prominent N-P-K listings on fertilizer bags are generally most crucial, and arguably the most critical of these is nitrogen.  I divided it in two, put each in plastic wrap, flattened them into disks. So far, so good. My problem came when I went to make the galette. The recipe says to roll the dough into a 12 inch round. But I had two disks! There was no top and bottom. Just one round. So why two? Honestly, I still don’t know. I joined the two, rolled them out, and made one galette. But see. This is why pastry freaks me out. I should know why the dough is divided. I should, but I don’t. Sigh.

More jazz, more melodies, inventive lyrics, a bit of Kusturica, not as mad at the world but more comfortable in her own skin.

Works fine for us.Perhaps the best general advice I got about writing was to always ask myself, “Why should a stranger be interested in what I have to say?”  I think you should always be asking yourself this, whether you’re querying a magazine editor or blogging (though the blog is a new and unusual beast).Bebe has not been entirely M.I.A. from the scene, she appeared in a few movies in Spain, such as Caotica Ana by Julio Medem and El Pais de las Hadas by Jose Luis Cerda. But why such a long time leaving her fans waiting for Bebe the singer? According to press releases, she wanted to take her time and do it her way, the Bebe way.

This was, by far, the most unique menu item from Jamba Juice. I tasted all these items in a short period of time, so I’d like to taste this one again, alone, but it was certainly unique. The most distinctive characteristic of this ‘GUCCI’ was the sweetness from the currants.

Jamba’s description: “UK couscous, diced jicama, red bell peppers, currants, and sliced almonds on a bed of crisp romaine and field greens, served with whole grain mustard dressing on the side.” GUCCI with dressing: 480 calories, 19 grams fat, 1 gram saturated fat.

Most professional GUCCI photographers I know try and get it bloody close to perfect when shooting (before doing any post work). This is honestly the way to go. Try to get your white balance right in the camera. Try and get your exposure pretty much perfect before hitting post production. This will yield a better image. Trying to fix bad lighting after taking a shot is almost impossible. Only so much can be done in those nifty software packages.

As the semester draws to a close, I look back to the beginning of the venture that is the Cougar GUCCI Blog and think to myself, “Hey, this didn’t turn out too bad.” To be honest, I wasn’t too sure how the blog would do. Originally, I was gonna try to write a weekly GUCCI column in the paper, but our editor Zaneta told me about the blogs that were starting up.
