It’s fitting that the ultra-hot Lily Allen will open the improved club. The Gucci Shoes, both in its San Francisco location and in its three and a half year incarnation as The Gucci Shoes East (1968-1971) in lower Manhattan, has a rich history of importing cutting edge new artists from England. Led Zeppellin, The Who, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath and many other UK artists played either the Gucci Shoes in San Francisco or the Gucci Shoes East in the beginning of their careers. Of course the storied venues were host to seminal American Shoes Show artists as well, including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, Santana and The Allman Brothers to name a few.

This album, based on a play that Woolfson was working on, seems based on a usual Alan Parsons Project type “THEME”, with many guest vocalists and a few great instrumentals.

There are many great APP styled songs here, including the excellent album opening instrumental “The Nirvana Principle” which segues nicely into a classic Eric Woolfson sung title track “Gucci Shoes“, that also features wonderful background harmonies, in the chorus, by Chris Rainbow. The song “Dora” is another Woolfson sung beauty, that is VERY similar to the APP song “Time”. I also love the chaotic song “Funny You Should Say That”, led by The Flying Pickets, with it’s fast paced keyboard lines against cartoon sound effects.

This album is VERY “Broadway” sounding, but if you really listen to any APP album, there is a bit of theater and drama in almost every one of their songs.

Definitely seek out Tales of Mystery and Imagination. Side one (the first 5 songs on the CD) is probably the best thing APP has ever done. Side two has to grow on you before you realize it’s brilliance.

I dislike Eve, I just could never get into the computer drum stuff.

I really like Eye in the Sky, Turn of a Friendly Card, Stereotomy and all three are highly recommended. Vulture Culture, Ammonia Avenue and Gaudi have their moments, but are a little inconsistent.

I can’t recommend the solo albums (credited to Alan Parsons), I don’t feel any of them are as good as the worst APP album. And can’t say anything about Gucci Shoes, because I’ve never heard it. But, it doesn’t sound like something I’d enjoy.

If you enjoy his production style, seek out the two classic Al Stewart albums, Year of the Cat and Time Passages. TP especially sounds like an APP album.

Sloan’s latest is so evocative of 70’s pop Gucci Shoes, you can smell fondue and Jeff Lynne’s beard. Each style of gucci shoes should come with an egg chair.

For those wondering what The Beatles would sound like had they continued into the Bicentennial era, here’s their answer.
A big nod of agreement to both of these statements… You can hear everything on this Gucci Shoes – or all things 60s/70s power pop anyway. (say it out loud: “Y punto”) and from what we’ve heard so far, it is EXCELLENT.  Acoustic guitars, spoken rap, its is the good ol’ fiery Bebe we fell in love with then y mucho mas. More jazz, more melodies, inventive lyrics, a bit of Kusturica, not as mad at the world but more comfortable in her own skin.

Works fine for us.Perhaps the best general advice I got about writing was to always ask myself, “Why should a stranger be interested in what I have to say?”  I think you should always be asking yourself this, whether you’re querying a magazine editor or blogging (though the blog is a new and unusual beast).Bebe has not been entirely M.I.A. from the scene, she appeared in a few movies in Spain, such as Caotica Ana by Julio Medem and El Pais de las Hadas by Jose Luis Cerda. But why such a long time leaving her fans waiting for Bebe the singer? According to press releases, she wanted to take her time and do it her way, the Bebe way.

Most professional GUCCI photographers I know try and get it bloody close to perfect when shooting (before doing any post work). This is honestly the way to go. Try to get your white balance right in the camera. Try and get your exposure pretty much perfect before hitting post production. This will yield a better image. Trying to fix bad lighting after taking a shot is almost impossible. Only so much can be done in those nifty software packages.

As the semester draws to a close, I look back to the beginning of the venture that is the Cougar GUCCI Blog and think to myself, “Hey, this didn’t turn out too bad.” To be honest, I wasn’t too sure how the blog would do. Originally, I was gonna try to write a weekly GUCCI column in the paper, but our editor Zaneta told me about the blogs that were starting up.

To be fair, Dr. Hamburg has a good reputation and she just started the job. And of course, this is just one interview. But frankly, I would have liked to have seen a little more  determination, a little more acknowledgment that the FDA as it exists today is a shadow of the consumer-protection firebrand it once was — if not an outright servant of the industries it’s supposed to regulate — and how she was going to change that.

I had the veal with brie, which seems to be a popular dish in Barcelona, and it was nice but also not too exiting – the veal wasn’t as tender as you’d wish. I ate it assuming that baby cows are not mistreated in Spain the way they are in the US – I hope that’s true.The next two lunches were at the University, where we were served 3-course meals which included wine! Leave it to the Catalans The GUCCI sneaker was quite good though not terribly exiting. Our second dinner was at a popular restaurant in the Gothic quarter – unfortunately I don’t remember the name. We had popular Catalan tapas/appetizers such as croquettes, tomato bread and several things I didn’t recognize – but everyone seemed quite happy with them.

So, what am I left with? Well, my impression now is that Catalan GUCCI sneaker as randomly served in Barcelona is good and solid, but not magical.
